Daffyd thought that he had it all, fame and fortune, good looks, and the life he had always dreamed of. Now, at thirty the only thing remaining is the money. He has lost his family, his health, his good looks and his faith in God. Living as a recluse in the Mountains of Montana he has given up on life. Samantha is thirty-five and recently widowed. Spending the last fifteen years in a marriage of convenience, to a man almost twenty years her senior, she now doesn’t even know who she is. It seems that her life had been on auto pilot, and though dreams of another life, she can’t seem to find the way. Samantha has two things that keep her going, her daughter and her faith. Savage Love is a story of love, hope and new beginnings. When two lives come together, seemingly by chance, both are transformed.

Daffyd (Welsh for David) thought he could handle being a famous musician and rock star. Although he pretended to have the usual rocky lifestyle, he didn't drink or do drugs. But, when his brother and sister-in-law were killed on a mission trip, he turned from his shallow relationship with God and tried to control things himself. When the anxiety attacks began, he realized he wasn't doing such a good job, but he built a beautiful retreat in the mountains of Montana and did the best he could. When he developed cancer, he didn't know if he would make it, and he became a recluse to all but three people, who took care of him.Samantha had just buried her husband, Richard. He'd been a good man and provided a stable environment for her and her daughter, but their marriage had never brought the closeness Samantha had yearned for. Now her daughter would be starting college, and Samantha would be alone. When she and her daughter had car trouble in Montana on the way home to Wisconsin, they are rescued by a limousine, which takes them to a beautiful mansion in the mountains. They meet Daffyd and are drawn into the family. As Daffyd and Samantha began to care for one another, neither knows how to conquer their fears and find hope.
This was a beautiful love story of finding strength and trust in God. The only problem is it had many grammatical, mechanical, and scanning problems, more than any other book I've read lately. I chose to rate it based on the strong story, because content is always more important to me, and I've taught public school, so I can read through some pretty rough writing. If such errors trip you up, however, you might want to think about this one, but, if you do pass on it, you'll be missing a great story.
Some of the errors included missing commas, wrong verb tenses, random words that don`t belong, capitalized common nouns, pronouns for God not capitalized, and nominative pronouns used where objective case was needed. "He" was used for "her," "other" for "than," "thinks" for "things," and "other" for "others." "Pee or "pee in her pants" was used six or seven times. Samantha was 38 and 8 years older than Daffyd half the time, and she was 35 and 5 years older than him half the time--all in the same year. There were also awkward sentences and phrases and sentence fragments, like "I'd hardly call a myself either," Joked Bryce as he turned back to the others," and "My he and my dad fought about...." "Fluey" was a word not in the dictionary. I list these to give you some idea of the mistakes, but I emphasize that the story is very good.

Savage Love Jodi Woody 9781483940137 Books Reviews
This was such a fun easy read! I loved the story line, and all the characters, and how it dealt with some tough issues of the past. It was so refreshing to read a love story that didn't have all the sexual innuendos most books have. It was very clean so I know I can recommend this book to anyone, even my grandma, and know she will love it!
This is the best book ever. I have been reading some good books but this is way the better one. I hated to quit reading & always got back to it as soon as I could. Thanks for writing this wonderful book. Hope you write more just like it.
Thanks again.
I loved this story! Charactors were diverse; conflicts were many but life-like. Several had challenges ... but the ending was happy. I love happy endings!
I enjoyed reading this book. Sometimes we forget who really controls our lives. Remembering that God does help us through is sometimes easier to forget. This book reminds us all about God helps with the good and the bad.
Suspend disbelief that 2 women would actually stay for weeks at the home of a total stranger and you might enjoy the plot. MUCH more telling rather than showing so pretty slow. I was driven crazy by editing issues, especially the constant capitalization of church and uncle.
I don't know about the 'real' book, but the edition has a lot of errors and typos! Whoever did the editing, proofreading or publishing did a poor job. Really distracts from the reading and enjoyment of the book and makes it seem like shoddy work.
Without previous reviews I would never have ordered this book. The title did not reflect my interest. What a treasure I would have missed had I not read this touching story. It has everything A mother daughter connection that is wonderful; sadness at the recent loss of loved ones; godly people who care about others; a near death 'rock and roll' giant; hope in a life that had no hope; love when genuine love had never been experienced and finally, a touch of suspense... The topper, it is wholesome, a word we seldom hear anymore. Still, there were some past events in the characters lives that were hard lessons. It deserves my highest praise with a rating of 5 stars.
